Every hour 10 Texas students ranging from grades 7 - 12 dropout of school. 68 percent of state prison inmates have not received a high school diploma. In a given year, more than 50,000 juveniles are arrested in Texas or referred to the juvenile probation system. 

 

Free Game is a nonprofit organization that decreases juvenile crimes and grade school dropouts by creating opportunities through mentorship for at-risk and high-risk youth. We provide youth ages 13-18 with insightful information and resources about the legal system through community involvement and education.​

 

Studies indicate that mentored youth are likely to have fewer absences from school, fewer gang affiliations, less substance abuse, more positive attitudes toward their elders and better interpersonal relationships with friends and family.

 

Free Game was founded by Taju Shoaga in 2020.

"After participating in the protest march for George Floyd, I felt like we needed more. Black Lives Matter, but what are we doing in the minority communities? Black Lives Matter shouldn't be applicable only when someone gets racially profiled or killed as a result of police brutality, Black Lives should matter every second of every day. If we want to change the future, we have to start with our youth."
